Two technocrats started IPA in the year 1977. Their initiative was to support the industries which were heavily dependent on imports for weighing and automation and its subsequent support. Building the loadcell from a scratch was their first milestone which they accomplished with the support from NAL( National aeronautical Laboratories). By the 1980’s , they have been able to successfully replace loadcells that were at various SAIL steel plants. The next challenge was to build electronics that could support the loadcell with interfaces to control systems and also digital displays. IPA have been the pioneers for electronic weighing in India. Slowly and steadily IPA moved into the domain of material handling in cement and steel industry with their products – the weigh feeder and the batching plant. IPA also has the technology for strain guages and piezo crystal which was again transferred from NAL. Today we are an IS0-9001 certified company with numerous process installations across the globe. There are very few manufacturers of strain gauges in the world, as production of strain gauge is a closely guarded technique. In 1992, we started commercial production of strain gauges, taking the know-how from National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore. Joining the rank of the “Very Few”. This was a major mile stone in the field of Load cell indigenisation in India.

OUR MANAGEMENT TEAM
A physics student , who ended up doing his electrical engineering from the Trivandrum Engineering college. A visionary, loving technical challenges, building and experimenting the existence of fundamental laws. Before starting IPA in the year 1977, he was a scientist with National aeronautical laboratories- Bangalore. He had come in contact with various industries that faced the challenges of technology in weighing and automation. All the technologies during that time was imported and was not really affordable then. This instigated his mind to start an industry. The start was humble and the path was tough for technology was a limitation in every domain. The struggle paid of with loadcells being commercially viable. He has built the company brick by brick, constantly training his team about his vision to be the ” leader in weighing and automation”. He continues to be the guiding force in every activity today.
R. Ranganathan holds a BE in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore. He began his career as Probationary Engineer in Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL), working in various capacities before retiring as Director of the company.
Throughout his 35 years at Bharat Electronics, R. Ranganathan worked on various products and projects such as Semiconductors Manufacturing, Microwave tubes, Solar cells, Communication equipment, Radar systems and Solar system for Navy.
He served for two years as Director of the GE-BEL joint venture for the manufacture of X-ray tubes for CT scan equipment.
In addition, collaborations with leading Electronic Manufacturing Companies such as Harris Semiconductors, Varian Microwave Tubes, Ericsson-Sweden, and DRDO Labs were established.
Following retirement from Bharat Electronics, R. Ranganathan became the CEO of IPA, and continues to serve IPA till date.
Kurian V Abraham is an Instrumentation graduate from Bangalore university, and has been with IPA since 1995. He began his career as Service Engineer and played a variety of roles in several departments over the years from Production, Quality control, Marketing to Research & Development. Now, as Director, he is actively involved in Research & Development and Marketing. During his tenure in various roles, he has been to many locations for site studies; and as Commissioning Engineer, has been to at least 15 countries executing numerous projects.
V. Chandrasekharan Nair graduated with a Masters in Electronics from Pune University in 1973, and soon after joined IPA. Since then, he has successfully performed various roles in service, production, quality and planning in the field of Weighing and Automation. Being an innovator throughout his career, he has been actively involved in the development of new products. Currently he is Director; and handles planning in addition to project execution.
Amanullah Sheik joined IPA in 1995 as Trainee Engineer after completing his graduation in Instrumentation from Bangalore University. Currently, he is Director and Head of the Design Department. He trains engineers on an ongoing basis, enabling them to be up-to-date with industry trends and developments; and his experience in this field brings in a lot of value to the projects being implemented. He is actively involved in creating specifications for new products and also evaluates newly developed products. During his tenure, he played a number of roles in production, quality and also visited a number of locations for installation support and service.
A graduate in Economics, Geevarghese Samuel also holds a Diploma in Telecommunication and is a Sun Certified System Administrator. During his stint of 20 years with the Indian Air Force, he handled, operated and maintained High Power Radar Systems and Real time operating Computers associated with the Radar Systems. He also spent 5 years at Core Professional Group, handling various back room activities for Banks and Telecommunication Service providers.
In 2010, Geevarghese Samuel joined IPA, handling all departments from CSD, Purchase & Subcontract, to Transducer. Presently he is Factory Manager and HOD for TRS, CNC and P&A depts.
Premalatha K, a graduate in Economics, joined IPA in 1988 where she spent 10 years in various departments including Order Execution, Marketing, Subcontract and more. Presently, she oversees the Planning Department taking care of the execution of orders as required by customers; and proper planning of essential resources within the team as well as the various internal departments and vendors. She also co-ordinates with customers and agents to arrange for inspection of their products ordered and finalization of payments.
An Engineering diploma graduate in Electrical and Electronics, Ramesh Rao underwent training at Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and TYCO Electronic, Bengaluru. In May 2001, he was recruited into IPA team as Installation & Service Engineer during which, he was responsible for carrying out more than 500 major installations pan-India. In 2006, he was promoted as HOD – Customer Support Department. Following this, he qualified as Company Internal Auditor for the ISO 9001 process.
In 2020, he was elevated as Manager – Customer Support and Quality Control Department.
V O Saji graduated in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from MG University, Kerala in 1986. He joined the IAF in technical branch and served the nation for 20 years in Air defence. Later he specialized in Radar engineering from Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Ghaziabad in 1995. V O Saji played a vital role in taking over from BEL the first indigenously produced Radar INDRA MK-1; and set up a 3rd and 4th line maintenance and servicing lab for Indian, French and Russian Air Defence Radars. He graduated in Engineering (E&C) in 2000.
He joined the IPA team as HOD Quality Control (QC) in 2007. He also qualified as Auditor for the ISO 9001 process and took on the role of Management Representative. In 2012, he was transferred to production as HOD Production. He trained in flame proof and explosion proof instrumentation and got IPA qualified for making flame proof load cell. V O Saji played a key role in taking over of NAL’s smart material technology for making Piezo Electric Crystals and starting its production. He was elevated as DGM in 2019. “Proud to be in the IPA team and to contribute towards its growth and work relentlessly in the area of Production, Quality and Product development,” he says.
